Fall Baby Shower...

So..
I am having a fall baby shower..
more of a little brunch..
and less of a traditional shower..
since we already have everything we need...
and have played silly games before..

When my friend asked what theme to do..
I wanted to do a garden theme..
and then I started craving everything pumpkin..
so the them is a fall garden..
which is perfect and lovely...

I made up these little labels..
to go on the mason jars..
which will be holding a delicious pumpkin dessert..
of course!

I can't wait to see how it turns out..
but mostly to eat the yummy pumpkin dessert!

Yarn Wreaths...

So as of lately..
we have been at war..
fighting ear infections..
and coughs..
and sneezes..

Eventually,
we will be back to normal..

Meanwhile..
I am loving yarn wreaths..
and am working on my own fall one...

Until it's finished..
here are a few..
I am admiring.. and aspiring too..

Epic Bowl...

This last Sunday...
I spent a lovely day with my friend Rachel
in beautiful Santa Barbara..
She took me to the most wonderful place..
wonderful frozen fruit, granola, fresh berries..
and much more yummy stuff..
all in a bowl!

Very healthy with a side of calories..
but due to my pregnant state..
when I fall in love with something..
I just can't let it go..

So with my brand new Yonanas machine..
(which I love, simple and easy..
but buy it from Bed, Bath, and Beyond..
save on shipping!)

I did a little recreation..
and it was quite yummy if I must say..
Not as perfect as Epic Bowl..
but great for a copy cat!

Beachy Waves...

I have longed for those beachy waves..
mostly I am disappointed by the cheap
mixtures you can buy at the drugstore...
so I have been thinking of a splurge..
surf spray
but at $23 for 4oz..
I haven't got it yet..

Instead...
I thought I would try making my own first..
I found a few different recipes online..
what I ended up using was this one..

8 oz water
2 tablespoons sea salt
1 teaspoon gel
2-3 teaspoons of conditioner

I made it for just about $3..
plus I have tons of salt left..
I just used conditioner and gel I had around..
but a coconut conditioner would have smelt lovely..

It worked nicely I thought..
I twisted my hair while I dried it..
and used a curling iron to touch up some of the curls..
But it held nicely...
which I have trouble getting curls to stay usually..
and it feels nice and soft still..
great bonus..
Needless to say..
I will be saving $20!

Well..
I thought of the perfect idea for my favor boxes..
it hit me while I was driving..
like a stroke of genius!
Lately I have been seeing Cake Batter Bark around
the blogs..
so festive.. and chocolate..
so tasty..
I used this recipe here...
only I used milk chocolate instead of dark..
because I am the only dark chocolate lover I know :(

and it went off pretty easy..

First layer..

Mixing the cake mix in the chocolate..

Sprinkled and cute..

Ready for my boxes..

The perfect treat for kids and grown ups alike..
(I might have snacked on a few pieces :)

Napkin Bow...

Holiday and vacations are over...
I'm sad..
but happy to be home...
and I am unprepared for my son's birthday this weekend..

I have these cute little favor boxes..
but no clever little ideas of what to put in them...
Arrrgghh..
Since the party will have mostly grown ups..
and the fun, little cute gifts that would work beautifully for
little ones..
will not work for them..

Maybe candy..
even grown ups need excuses to eat some candy!

Meanwhile..
I love this napkin bow idea..
(not for our buzz lightyear party :)
but maybe for my bestie's bridal shower..

Everyone needs a little bow sometime too!

Happy Fourth...

I hope you all have wonderful plans for this weekend..
we are doing a little vacation to San Diego..
just a few hours away..
from us..
but still exciting!

I didn't really have anything cute or
really festive to wear for Monday..
So I made a little red, white, and blue headband..
so brighten up my usual jeans and black tee-shirt maternity wear :)

Alas,
I did not take pictures while making them..
it was on a whim..
and I was too busy burning my fingers with hot glue..
ouch..
But I found a great tutorial on
which shows amazing pictures..
of the steps..

Happy Fourth!

buzz..
we are having a buzz party!

They were wonderful to work with and so fast!

Glitter Star Garland..
If I'm going to have only boys..
I will find a way to get some glitter in there some how!

More to come..
as long as I can get it all together!

Chalkboard Spray Paint...

With the increasing amount of wonderful
chalkboard DIY's...
I have a feeling that Chalkboard Spray paint is in my near future..
I must confess that I still haven't used my can
of chalkboard paint yet..
I am so indecisive as what to use it on!

Here is a lovely idea I found on
It would be so cute for table numbers
at a wedding..
I love it!

So awhile back,
I posted about these super cute flower kissing balls..
that I wanted to make..
and I haven't got around to them yet..
but this morning...
I saw Easter themed ones..
and it just might be time..
to do this DIY..
maybe it was good to procrastinate!

Easter for Kids...

As my son is getting a little older...
I am getting much too excited for all the fun
little crafts that we can do...
Easter crafts are especially fun..
Dying eggs..
come on..
everyone wants to dye eggs..
so..
I have been looking up some fun things..
and I thought I would share some that we might do..

who would have thought..

Seems easy and fun..

I love Handprint crafts..

DIY Paper Nests...

I am excited to do this craft for Easter...
From Country Living..
Although it says its a throw back
to grade school..
I don't remember doing much
papier-mache ..
so sad..
I plan on filling these with little Easter treats
and wrapping them up..
in a little clear bag..
I think that I need to find
some cute little birds to set in there as well..

Oh and I plan to do them in sheet music..
They will be so cute..
with all the little music notes all over the place!

Nest Bowl...

This weekend I under-took one of my Martha craft inspirations...
The nest bowl..

Got a bowl at the dollar store..
some yarn and glue at Joann's..

Martha said to use double-sided tape..
but I thought glue might be easier and last longer..
I just put glue all over and started wrapping the yarn around..

Easy-peasy

Maybe not perfection..
but it is cute.. and I love the color of the yarn..
I think I might add another bit of yarn
around the top of the bowl..
We will see..
Happy Easter Crafting!
